Apartment fire in Gotha - woman found dead

Gotha (dpa/th) - In a fire in an apartment building in Gotha, Thuringia, a woman died on Saturday night.

The apartment was already heavily smoky when the fire brigade arrived, the police said. The emergency services were alerted at around 10:30 p.m.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the 59-year-old resident of the apartment was found dead. The cause of the fire is still unclear. According to the police, there were no signs of arson. The Gotha Criminal Investigation Department has started investigations.
