Cowboys Capture Team Title, Finish Three In Top 10 at Wyoming Invite

Simshauser Breaks Program and Course Record En Route to Individual Victory

University of Wyoming senior runner Noah Simshauser made history on Saturday at the 2023 Wyoming Invite, obliterating the program and course records en route to an individual victory and leading the Cowboys to a team title.

Simshauser, a native of Gillette, Wyoming, covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 23:34.8, shattering the previous program record of 24:00.0 set by Chris Henry in 2011.

Simshauser's time also set a new course record at the Wyoming Invite, which has been held annually since 2009.

In addition to Simshauser's record-breaking performance, the Cowboys placed two other runners in the top 10, with junior Aidan Trout finishing seventh in a time of 24:30.9 and sophomore Gavin Bailey taking ninth in 24:34.5.

The Cowboys' team score of 36 points was good enough for a seven-point victory over second-place Colorado State, which finished with 43 points.
